the written languages of africa

HERU
  • this video shows several of the written languages of africa. in the video a few of the west african scripts are shown like mende, and shumom. there are claims by whites that these scripts were all created in the1800's after these people came in contact with europeans and saw the advantage writing could give[ no european has ever created an original script ], but from what i've been researching about these west african languages it seems likely that these languages are derived from nsibidi or other similar scripts. in nsibidi only certain symbols are known to the public while secret societies who were in control of trade for that region knew all of the symbols and had a deeper understading of what they meant. i believe that the other scripts came about by their creators to give the general population the advantage of literacy, while keeping the original script secret and i've heard that nsibidi and vai date back to 500 to 1000 b.c., but im still researching so i cant verify this just yet, i just thought it best to share this though.
