the ancient trade network of east africa
HERU- this video is a segment from basil davidson's africa series. this series has several historical inaccuracies, omissions, and outdated information but certain parts of it do have some level of accuracy worth watching. this segment tells of the role that the swahili and people of great zimbabwe had to play in the ancient eastern african trading network, which reached from as close as arabia to as far as china. one thing of note that this series got wrong was that it didn't mention the kushite or abyssinian empires who were trading as far out as china as well.
